Checklist for the puff print quality
Surface Cracking
Description: Visible fissures or "spiderweb" cracks appear on the print surface when the hoodie fabric is gently stretched. Cause: The ink was under-cured (didn't reach the correct temperature) or the layer of ink deposited was too thick, causing the surface to dry brittle while the inside remained soft.
Surface Collapse
Description: The print edges are raised, but the center of the design looks sunken, flat, or has a rough, bubbling texture instead of a smooth, rounded dome. Cause: Overheating in the dryer caused the expanded gas bubbles to burst, or the ratio of the puff additive to the base ink was incorrect.
Edge Lifting
Description: The puff print begins to peel away or lift from the fabric, particularly at the sharp corners or thin lines of the design. Cause: Insufficient "dwell time" (time spent in the heat chamber) prevented the ink from bonding deep into the fabric fibers, or the fabric had a chemical coating (like water repellent) that repelled the ink.
How to Care for Your Puff Print Hoodie
- Do Not Tumble Dry: Heat is the enemy. Never use a dryer. Hang dry or lay flat to dry to preserve the 3D puff effect.
- Do Not Iron Print: Never iron directly on the design. The high heat will melt the puff. If needed, steam carefully from the inside.
- Wash Inside Out: Always turn the hoodie inside out before washing. This protects the raised puff ink from friction against other clothes.
- Cold Wash Only: Use cool water (below 30°C/86°F). Hot water can soften the foam ink and cause it to lose shape or crack.
